Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and trails are in late season condition. Groomers are out today.

We are unable to groom on Trail #3 between the Portage Lift Bridge and South Range due to extremely low snow cover but everything south of South Range is being groomed. There are lots of areas that have bare spots and low snow cover so use caution. Snow base ranges from 0 to 24” in the wooded areas.

There is a beaver dam on South Freda that may let go soon so use caution. The area is flagged.

All of trail #122 is closed for logging.

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA - TRAIL REPORT: 8:00 a.m., Saturday, 3/18/17 - Nice Late Season Trails! - GROOMING OPERATIONS: Our full length of Trail 8, Trail 7 South to the Buckhorn and all of Trail 422 to Miners Castle were groomed yesterday.... - #snowphotosTRAIL REPORT: 8:00 a.m., Saturday, 3/18/17

Nice Late Season Trails!

GROOMING OPERATIONS: Our full length of Trail 8, Trail 7 South to the Buckhorn and all of Trail 422 to Miners Castle were groomed yesterday.
TRAIL CONDITIONS: Still great for riding with help from a few inches of fresh snowfall yesterday. All trails are fairly flat, hard and rideable with exception of Trail 419 between Munising and Wetmore. Christmas end of Trail 7 is thin with icy, gravel/rock patches.
Trail 8 - Good to Fair as you head West, flat hard base
Trail 7 South - Fair.
Trail 7 North - Fair. Thin areas and rocky as you approach Christmas.
Trail 419W (Munising-Christmas) - Fair. Water holes and minor moguls. The first few miles out of Munising has minor moguls and wet spots. Watch for water holes on edges of trail here too. One large hill closer to Munising has a fair amount of exposed rocks. Fair Trail after that.
Trail 422 (Miners Castle) - Good, plenty of snow. Use caution as AWD cars are starting to try and get to Miners Castle. There may be some tire rutts showing up.
Trail 419E (to Trail 8) - Fair. Thin areas as you approach Wetmore.
Trail 419 (Wetmore-Munising) - Poor. Very dirty with numerous bare areas and moguls. CLOSED from Wetmore toward Munising and the Road Commission Building. Use Prospect Street. Not grooming here due to lack of access - and snow.

WEATHER: Currently 33 degrees, Calm Winds, Cloudy
Past 24 Hour Snowfall: 2" South, 2" North (approximate).

CAUTIONS, WARNINGS and UPDATES:

CAUTION! Trail 422 has a 3/4 mile section that will be shared with logging trucks. This is located between M-28 and H-58. Please ride with caution and give right of way. Currently there is very little snow in this stretch because of bulldozing.
CAUTION FOR TRAIL 419:
Standing and flowing water creating soft spots in wet areas of the hills closer to Munising. RIDE WITH CAUTION.
CAUTION FOR TRAIL419 (Munising Wetmore Connector) - Trail 419 connector is CLOSED along M-28 in Wetmore at a Property owners request. Very little snow and very dirty. Please avoid the corner of H-13 and M-28 and use Prospect Street.
IN TOWN TRAIL ETIQUETTE
Private Property owners allow us to use their land for trail connectors.
PLEASE respect the allowed use by staying on the trail, ride safely and stop at all driveways. PLEASE give vehicles the right of way, especially when they are trying to turn off of the major roadways. Remember Cars have the right of way and you are responsible for any related vehicular accidents. These connectors need annual approval so PLEASE ride with respect and courtesy so we can keep them open year after year!

Sooo 8-10 inches yet? thanks in advance. For the updates

JUST got back from Larry's Seven-Ski Inn an the roads are TERRIBLE. IF u do not have to go out I wouldn't go. Phone rang off hook from down staters asking about snow conditions. Had a group of 3 trailers that parked at Larry's who were from Ohio an they said the riding was pretty good. Had 2 more groups who came over from Gaylord an said trails were fine. SO with that being said YES it is still snowing out an a blowing. Bring it!!!!

Yes. I'm pretty shocked at the amount of people out tonight. I called Ryan off because i wasworried about him on the roads. He lives a long way away. We're getting kinda spanked right now because of that decision.

Thanks Chad. I think youre right there with the 8-10. We will be ready for you tomorrow.

Good morning Kruppers!
Well a foot of new snow here sure
Put a bigger smile on Kruppys face!
And just a bit north of us picked up 15+ inches!
People are scurrying to get that last ride in!
You know who you are! Ha ha
I was loosing hope to be able to carve through the beautiful UP woods one more time this year!
Today is that day!
Sadly I'm forced to work today and this weekend and won't be sharing any pics! I do have friends out riding and maybe I can share their pics later!
Temps are below freezing for now so at lease it won't all melt like some spring snows!
So if your a snow lover and have been suffering that end of season depression that a lot of us get! There is time! I know some of Kruppys fans have detailed the sleds and packed away in the trailer for the summer but know- it's go time! And they are on their way up here!
See ya soon!

Lots of downed trees due to the heavy wet snow. Any low spot that can collect water, has it! Picture from trail 120, Freda loop. Use caution, snow has settled a lot, the foot in Twin Lakes is down to about 7 inches as of this morning.

Fixed the snow stick! Now let it snow!

The road is still bare...

No snow! :) time for us to get back up there!!!!

Krupps Resort

Well Kruppers its been a weird season!
temps have been late Aprilish! its just 34 above out right now
but the snows have taken a big hit! Groomers are asleep till/if it cools off!
looks like the next couple nights it will be in the mid twenties and maybe can go back out but things are looking a bit grim!
John Dee's extended forecast is giving little to no hope and temps heading back to 50's Friday and beyond!
It goes like this:

for Northern Houghton & all of Keweenaw County

.:: March 9, 2016 ::.
TODAY...CLOUDY WITH LIGHT RAIN AND DRIZZLE. TEMPS STEADY IN THE LOW 30'S. NORTH WINDS 5 TO 15 MPH.

TONIGHT...MOSTLY CLOUDY. LOW 26. LIGHT WINDS.

TOMORROW...PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGHS 38. LIGHT WINDS BECOMING NORTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.

TOMORROW NIGHT...CLEAR. LOW 24.

FRIDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH 50. SOUTHWEST WINDS 5 TO 10 MPH.

SATURDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH 55.

SUNDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY, WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. HIGH 48.

MONDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS. HIGH AROUND 47.

TUESDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH AROUND 52.
Its just the first week of March so its possible we could get some big bombs yet! ''I like to keep my glass half full because I love to ride!"
Looks like fire roads might be the best riding for now!
Waterfalls should be something to see too!
ya Kruppy is a bit depressed too! And he has a giant fly tormenting him!
Keep your chins up snow lovers!
I wish I was reporting brand new groomer ribbons for you all!
Have a great night!

North Store Follow Me Outfitters

Well we lost some snow but that snow dance I did last night might have worked. We have a good 3" of snow since this morning and still coming down. The week looking good to for snow. Thanks for a great winter so far, it great see all you snow junkies. Let's pray for a great March. Yooper Out!!!! Hey check this out...Give generously, for your gifts will return to you later. Divide your gifts among many, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead. When the clouds are heavy, the rains come down. When a tree falls, weather south or north, there it lies. If you wait for perfect conditions, you will never get anything done. Ecclesiastes 11:1-4 ... See MoreSee Less
