Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - when you just can’t say the seasons over and 5 inches of fresh snow falls....you RIDE!
Well it turns out Trent Seorum
was not the only one that took advantage of the 5 inches of fresh snow that fell on the 27th and 28th.....
Robbie and Molly Tobin Burk
brought their daughters up to Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula for their first time ever and for their last family ride of the season! This was not just a quick rip on the trails.... the family put on 140 miles!
Robbie messaged me and said, “Was blessed this year for sure....Mother Nature delivered fresh White Gold for us to get one last Family ride in and boy was it BREATHTAKING !!
The Beauty of the Keewenaw Peninsula taught my girls how important it is to just take some time and soak it all in and take advantage of what mother nature has to offer us !!
(This was thier first visit to Keewenaw)
I thought I'd share some pics of our adventures with you as I know you are also a big fan of the Keewenaw Peninsula, 140 miles worth of smiles the last two days. We ended up driving the truck, (the snow started getting too thin)to The Mariner North
for a great meal! The girls want to come back next year for sure. We are headed back home tomorrow in the a.m from Calumet.
FYI....we had the woods to ourselves however we did cross paths with Trent Seorum yesterday..lol 😂”
Absolutely beautiful photos Robbie and Molly! Thank you so much for sharing! I’m certain others are just as jealous as I am! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - It’s not over 😮 Photos from 3/28/21
Trent Seorum
actually got out for a ride today after the small amount of fresh snow fell last night.... late season riding like this might not be be for everyone.... but Trent enjoyed his ride and shared these photos and a quick review of trails ....
“Got out for a ride after the dusting of snow last night. Left from Cliff Drive and headed north to Copper Harbor. I took Brockway on the way there and looped out towards High Rock on the way back taking trail 134 back to trail 3. Brockway and a good portion of the grade would be unrideable without the dusting of snow but where 134 splits off 3 toward high rock is flat and fast with the best snow of all trails ridden today.”
Thanks for sharing Trent! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA - TRAIL REPORT - Saturday, 03/20/2021 PREPARING FOR THE SNOW/ORV TRANSITION! Grooming operations have stopped. Continued warm and sunny weather has base snow disappearing fast with dirty snow, large bare sections, standing and flowing water and icy conditions. Some sections are very wet and slushy with deep water in areas. Those who are still trying to get some sled time in are off trail riding, many up in the Kingston Plains area. Friday we moved the last machine back to the barn. All 3 are tucked away waiting for their spring clean-up. Only 12 days now until the ORV season officially opens so stay tuned as we make the transition to summer trail work and playtime. KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - I believe that the first few weeks and the last few weeks of any season are always the busiest when it comes to receiving messages asking “is it worth it” to come up and ride.
They are definitely some of the hardest messages for me to answer and this year was no different. I’ve spent a lot of time trying to personally describe conditions and share others descriptions, to help people make the decisions for themselves ..... so far it seems everyone has made choices and been happy.
Robert Oberdorfer and crew decided it was “worth it” to them and made a trip up. Robert shared a few photos with us and said, “We made it! Just like you said, not perfect but definitely rideable. We were not disappointed. We rode 115 miles and had a great day! Thank you!”
Thank YOU for sharing your photos and letting me know that you made the decision to chance it and come up! Hopefully you will be able to ride Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula next season with much better conditions! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - Where there’s a will there is a way!
Sean Diederich decided the season was not over in his eyes and came up to Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula
to ride!
These are the photos Sean shared. Sean said, “Italian beefs for lunch!! Trails aren't bad. Trailered to Vansville Bar
. Some bare spots here and there but trail 124 was pretty dam good. 3 not so much.”
Thanks for sharing Sean!
📝 Note: There may still be a good number of people out there riding and I am sharing some of their reviews and photos.....BUT..... this IS late season riding! KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - It’s truly is crazy to think we are already talking about end of the season rides! I don’t know about you, but this season started way too late and appears to be ending way too early to me!
Well Adam Garvey was definitely one of the first out riding at the beginning of the season and it appears he is working on being one of the last.....
Adam shared these beautiful photos and said, “Everyone keeps saying it’s over, I’m going to say it’s ALMOST over. The trails north of Phoenix where hard and fast this morning...(note I did not say smooth). Trail 134 is by far the best riding! Would I recommend people trailer up here, absolutely not, but if you are fortunate enough to have the Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula in your back yard there is still time for one last braap! 😉”
W🤩W! Thanks for making everyone else extremely jealous of how you are spending your day! I’m determined to join you on the last ride of the season yet Adam! 😉
I would really like to give Adam a huge “thank you”for always being willing to go out and “take one for the team” by riding and reviewing conditions! It’s a huge help to many riders Adam! ... #keweenaw #snowphotos

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - The Keweenaw Snowmobile Club has stopped grooming as of last Saturday, but that hasn’t stopped countless riders from still wanting to enjoy a “last ride” I have been trying to answer so many messages as accurately as possible regarding riders continuing to make a trip up.... #keweenaw #snowphotosThe Keweenaw Snowmobile Club has stopped grooming as of last Saturday, but that hasn’t stopped countless riders from still wanting to enjoy a “last ride” I have been trying to answer so many messages as accurately as possible regarding riders continuing to make a trip up.

VERY early yesterday morning I received a message from Sharon Jones about coming up to ride from Eagle River, Wisconsin. ( I’m a complete insomniac 🙈). She wanted to know if it was worth a trip up.... that million dollar question! As I have said previously, it is SO hard to explain what could be considered “worth it” or not for someone. We messaged back and forth and I actually discouraged her from making the trip for the most part.... I explained the conditions as best I could and told her where they COULD ride IF they made the trip..... My last words from Sharon yesterday before the sun even had come up was, “Thank you very much! Appreciate all your time and efforts! It’s hard to get good information and I appreciate your time trying to help us out! Have a wonderful day!” I truly did not think they were going to make the trip!

Well, surprise to me, they decided it was “worth it” to them and made the drive VERY early! Sharon said with the time change and all getting up and going by 4:30 am was tough but again “worth it”

Sharon shared this photo from High Rock taken at about noon and said, “Thanks for all your help we had a darn good, nice time! We rode from Mohawk north on trail 3, it was choppy until the 134 turnoff and then decent until the High Rock spur. Here is a photo if you would like to share it. Thanks for your help we couldn’t have done it without you!”

Thank you SO much for sharing your experience with us so others can consider your views in addition to mine!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - It is a sad day when a snowmobile season comes to an end 🎬 ....grooming operations have ceased for the season. Huge thank you AGAIN to all of the Groomer Operators and everyone else that makes the season possible!
Paul Koski
posted on our page looking for someone to ride with and David Pratt messaged him and they connected for a couple of last days of riding in the 2020/21 season.
Paul is now all loaded up ready to head home and shared these beautiful photos of the days riding and comments, “ had a blast riding with David Pratt and Allie! So glad I was able to make it up here!I met a lot of great people from other riders to people who live/work here! Bear Belly Pit Stop
went ABOVE and beyond wrapping an order of delicious BBQ Mac n cheese so I could transport it on the sled! Ron at Copper Harbor Fuel Stop
-dudes a stich! Great place to fuel up and a convenience store! The crew at Slim's Cafe
down home nice and helpful! Today we rode 122 and back on trail 124! Trail 122 was bad..see photos of water on trail from David. It was passable but not easily. Trail 124 ranged from good to great! The only negative factor on 124 was bumps-no open areas! Trail 3 was good just choppy. So glad I made it up! I can’t wait to return! ”

Mohawk/trail 3 north to the y intersection of 3/134 great..... no bare spots, no water, very little if any chop. First mile or 2 of trail 3 north of the y.... some avoidable bare spots and then the last 200 yards before turning onto Brockway Mountain drive rough..... then pretty smooth sailing to the first Brockway Mountain lookout. Pretty bare where you park to look but stay to the left when turning to go up the lookout and still plenty of snow ..... for now ....it’s really sunny and really windy up here! I have met countless groups of riders that are either all or a couple of them first time riders to Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula! This is awesome, I just hope they are able to return for a mid season trip sometime!
I usually try to share other rider’s photos and reviews of trails in addition to mine , but this morning I am posting some of mine from yesterday’s ride. When I choose to ride early and late season conditions, yes it’s for the actually snowmobiling BUT, I always know conditions aren’t going to be anywhere near perfect! KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - It’s a beautiful morning on Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula!

There are currently two Groomer Operators out on the trails north of Mohawk and it’s 17 degrees 👏!

Photos are of yesterday’s ride after Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday’s warm temps and a lot of rain on Wednesday. As you can see from the photos, trails were still in decent condition and all riders we talked to yesterday were also very happy with conditions. The views were amazing as always!
As I stated last night, by late afternoon/early evening 3 had become pretty whooped up. Groomers ARE currently out!

Checkout the Groomer Tracker app to see the status of trails if you are riding the area.

I would still currently recommend staging somewhere north or south of the bridge as getting through Houghton/Hancock is not advised.... #keweenaw #snowphotos

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via Alger County SORVA - TRAIL REPORT - Thursday, 03-11-2021 GROOMING SHUT DOWN!
Warm weather and heavy rain have destroyed our trail system with bare sections, standing and flowing water and very icy conditions now. Grooming operations have stopped with 75% of what little snow we had disappearing over the last 48 hours. Some of the trail base is holding across most of Trail 8 from Shingleton West, Trail 7 North, parts of Trail 417 and 418 but all with sections of standing water, ice and bare sections. As temperatures drop back down they are expected to become completely ice. Trail 418 has high flowing water just east of AuTrain. Conditions will be very hard on the sleds if you choose to go out there. There are a few weeks left of the season so if choosing to do so ride safe! KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports - Is it worth it? The million dollar question being asked all day! No one can answer that for you as everyone’s “worth it” is different.
The best way to say it is it’s late season riding conditions, road crossings are bare..... few places on trail showing rock or bare spots but completely avoidable..... no grooming is taking place as of now.... see earlier post today for that information.... some trails have whoops and some are still pretty flat.... will post some photos of what I call bare spots when I can safely stop on trail to take a photo, but so far have really only been on the corners.
I’m still out riding so really can’t get more detailed than that if I want to cover more ground....

JUST got back from Larry's Seven-Ski Inn an the roads are TERRIBLE. IF u do not have to go out I wouldn't go. Phone rang off hook from down staters asking about snow conditions. Had a group of 3 trailers that parked at Larry's who were from Ohio an they said the riding was pretty good. Had 2 more groups who came over from Gaylord an said trails were fine. SO with that being said YES it is still snowing out an a blowing. Bring it!!!!

Just sat down here! We left S. Higgins, N to Fredrick then Ostego, back brown thru Lakes of N. & it's been all good!

Sooo 8-10 inches yet? thanks in advance. For the updates

Pretty to look at, I'm outside right now ,nice breeze going, so long have to go back in and turn ac down before it gets to chilly in there yuk yuk yuk globe AZ

We still have snow coming down an we are at 10in here an lots wind an whiteouts in the charleviox area

Krupps Resort

Good morning Kruppers!
Well a foot of new snow here sure
Put a bigger smile on Kruppys face!
And just a bit north of us picked up 15+ inches!
People are scurrying to get that last ride in!
You know who you are! Ha ha
I was loosing hope to be able to carve through the beautiful UP woods one more time this year!
Today is that day!
Sadly I'm forced to work today and this weekend and won't be sharing any pics! I do have friends out riding and maybe I can share their pics later!
Temps are below freezing for now so at lease it won't all melt like some spring snows!
So if your a snow lover and have been suffering that end of season depression that a lot of us get! There is time! I know some of Kruppys fans have detailed the sleds and packed away in the trailer for the summer but know- it's go time! And they are on their way up here!
See ya soon!

Lots of downed trees due to the heavy wet snow. Any low spot that can collect water, has it! Picture from trail 120, Freda loop. Use caution, snow has settled a lot, the foot in Twin Lakes is down to about 7 inches as of this morning.

Nice! We will be up later staying with you!!

Coming up in the morning where a good place we can park and do some off trail riding??

LETS RIDE Chad Hedquist, should we go up monday?

Marky Rodga's another foot in 24 hours

We picked up about a cool foot of new snow! Main roads are just wet so there is no excuses not to drive up to ride eh?
Just north of us reports are of some 15" depths!
Heavy wet snow and it's still below the freezing mark!
There has been some impressive pics posted from around here!
Real snow lovers are in route I'm sure!
Here are a couple shots live

Well Kruppers its been a weird season!
temps have been late Aprilish! its just 34 above out right now
but the snows have taken a big hit! Groomers are asleep till/if it cools off!
looks like the next couple nights it will be in the mid twenties and maybe can go back out but things are looking a bit grim!
John Dee's extended forecast is giving little to no hope and temps heading back to 50's Friday and beyond!
It goes like this:

for Northern Houghton & all of Keweenaw County

.:: March 9, 2016 ::.
TODAY...CLOUDY WITH LIGHT RAIN AND DRIZZLE. TEMPS STEADY IN THE LOW 30'S. NORTH WINDS 5 TO 15 MPH.

TONIGHT...MOSTLY CLOUDY. LOW 26. LIGHT WINDS.

TOMORROW...PARTLY CLOUDY. HIGHS 38. LIGHT WINDS BECOMING NORTHWEST 5 TO 10 MPH IN THE AFTERNOON.

TOMORROW NIGHT...CLEAR. LOW 24.

FRIDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH 50. SOUTHWEST WINDS 5 TO 10 MPH.

SATURDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH 55.

SUNDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY, WITH A CHANCE OF SHOWERS. HIGH 48.

MONDAY...MOSTLY CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF RAIN SHOWERS. HIGH AROUND 47.

TUESDAY...MOSTLY SUNNY. HIGH AROUND 52.
Its just the first week of March so its possible we could get some big bombs yet! ''I like to keep my glass half full because I love to ride!"
Looks like fire roads might be the best riding for now!
Waterfalls should be something to see too!
ya Kruppy is a bit depressed too! And he has a giant fly tormenting him!
Keep your chins up snow lovers!
I wish I was reporting brand new groomer ribbons for you all!
Have a great night!

Well we lost some snow but that snow dance I did last night might have worked. We have a good 3" of snow since this morning and still coming down. The week looking good to for snow. Thanks for a great winter so far, it great see all you snow junkies. Let's pray for a great March. Yooper Out!!!! Hey check this out...Give generously, for your gifts will return to you later. Divide your gifts among many, for you do not know what risks might lie ahead. When the clouds are heavy, the rains come down. When a tree falls, weather south or north, there it lies.
