…Near Freezing Winter Driving…

Temperatures between 25 and 30 degrees, and abundant low level moisture will combine to generate slick driving conditions. These conditions can be common in December, as northern Michigan makes the transition from fall to winter.

Driving with temperatures near freezing can be dangerous, because slick roads can be hard to detect and often have the appearance of simply being wet. Be aware of bridges and overpasses which can freeze quickly as cold air circulates underneath them.

Most of the U.P. saw the sun again today with some low clouds hanging around the eastern Upper Michigan counties. Tonight, temperatures will depend predominately on the amount of clouds overhead. Those away from the lake and clouds will likely drop into the low teens to single digits. As the winds switch to the northwest behind a front tonight, a few snowflakes may squeeze their way out in the West, but accumulations will be minimal. ... See MoreSee Less
