Northern Michigan Snowmobile

Gaylord Area Trail Report – December 3, 2007 4:30 p.m.

Trail Report: I should have typed this yesterday, but I think conditions can only have improved. We had about 5″ Friday and about 9″ Saturday night. This was system snow, so it was a little wet and really packs up nice. We got out yesterday for a short ride. We passed a groomer who looked like he was panning, and the trail behind the groomer was smooth and firm. We had another 6″ last night, so conditions can only have improved. And the forecast is cold and snowy. As long as they keep grooming, we should be looking at the best December riding we have seen in years.

There have been some changes in the local trail system. The biggest change I have seen is where trails 7 and 4 split at Old 27 and Mancelona Road. The changes are well marked, so please follow the signs.

Our lakes have frozen over, but the ice is not thick enough yet to support any weight. I would strongly suggest that you stay off the ice.

Happy Sledding!

Specials & Events: This year, meetings will be held the 2nd and 4th Saturdays at 8:00 at Mama Leone’s. Club ride to follow. Depending on the conditions, we may trailer. Stay tuned to this site to find out if we are meeting and where we are riding.
