Northern Michigan Snowmobile

Gaylord Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat – Jan. 3

The Latest News: We just returned from a great 65 mile snowmobile ride over to Starvation Lake and back. It was a great ride! Sure wish we had the time to do some more riding today or tomorrow. Trail 7 from Rays Retreat down to Waters was a little bumpy. From Waters to Frederick it was smooth riding. As I said we headed west out of Frederick over to trail 79. Trail 79 was a little bumpy, especially the south end. We met their groomer about halfway thru which helped, but it was still the bumpiest part of our ride. Stopped into The Hideway for a light lunch and then back on the trail. Trail 4 was awesome, the entire ride back to our place. Even camper alley and the Mancelona Hills were great riding.

NOW! is the time to get out and ride (looking at the extended forecast). It was 5 degrees when we left this morning at 10. Its warmed up to 20 now.
Tomorrows high is 33 degrees. Saturday, they’re saying 37. Then Sunday 40? and possible rain? …. that’s not looking good. It should still be good riding through the early part of the weekend. After that we’ll just have to watch and hope it doesn’t warm up as much as they think possible.
