KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports --> Casey Hargrave just wanted to say happy May 1st!
Weather is a bit crazy still across some areas of the UP & Northern Wisconsin - heavy wet snow! The Keweenaw has not received as much as other areas but Bergland area etc are well over a foot and still snowing!
This is not helping the situation for trails for sXs riding etc. We need spring to show up! #keweenaw #snowphotos ... See MoreSee Less

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association --> Good evening all! I hope you enjoyed the beautiful weather the past several days! A little rain and snow on the way here so some of our volunteers took advantage of the nice weather earlier today to finally get all of the gates closed that they could. Here’s Steve’s report from the day. Never a dull moment!
“Ryan, Pete, and I left at 8 am this morning in our side by sides with no signing trailer and minimal equipment.
We left the Soo with the goal of closing and locking all the gates on our 103 miles of trail system.
It was wet and muddy most of the way to Brimley. We had increasing snow on the ground the further west we traveled.
Weather was nice and we took our time going from gate to gate.
We secured what gates we could and noted the repairs needed to close the others.
Day was enjoyable and uneventful until we got to the Rudyard area.
We were down to the last four gates and were looking forward to leaving the trails and taking mostly roads the rest of the trip.
I was leading while running on ice over a sizable water hole on the trail. Suddenly, my RZR busted through and sent me head on into an ice shelf.
Thankfully I was wearing a seat belt when I came to an abrupt stop. I will say if I would have had air bags they would have deployed.
The impact bent my front rim and knocked the tire off the bead. We were able to get out to pavement where the RZR was parked to assess the damage.
Nothing too serious but we decided to leave it and go get a truck and trailer to haul it home.
We left the RZR in Rudyard and had Ryan and Pete continue to the last four gates in Ryan’s Ranger. I took the clubs new Ranger back to town and got my truck and trailer.
The day was a success as we made it to every gate. We also got to use the clubs new Polaris Ranger on its first recovery mission.
We are waiting for the frost to get out of the ground before we start fixing signs. We should be back out in the next week or two.
Steve Lawson”
Also a video in the comments of just how much snow there still is in the Raco area.
Thank you Steve, Pete, and Ryan! We know that this was the the first of many, many Sundays that you’ll be spending out there in preparation for the ’23-‘24 season!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western UP Trail Reports --> Other than a couple trees down the trail is still in good shape. We've had a couple days of snow with a little over 2 inches accumulation. However we're heading into a warming trend of 50's and upper 60's next week. It might just be time to switch toys real soon.

The wet heavy snow made it.
Power is out in a good part of the area.
The big backup generator is going here so we have power. We will be open today as usual.
Here's a good powder day for everyone. Be careful there will be hazards on the trails drifts, potential low hanging trees or downed trees.
