Ijust got back from riding the Munising area trails Sunday thru Thursday. The snow and trails are awesome!!! Thanks to all the groomers out keeping the trails so smooth. There is plenty of snow even down to Big Springs. Grand Marais trip on Thursday was a complete blizzard but it was great!!! I do have to put in a good word for Scott at Scotts Repair two miles west of Christmas. I blew out my jackshaft bearing on my rx1 and he was able to get me going again after I found the Part in Marquette. If you have a Yamaha problem just call Scott at 906-387-2851 and he can get it fixed. He was the Yamaha mechanic at the closed Yamaha dealer in Christmas. Thanks to all at the Buckhorn Lodge too!!! Support these businesses up here because the economy is super tough up here on them!!! We saw closed bars, restaurants and motels all the way up here that were open two years ago.

    Munising Trail Report - 01/19

    1.19.09

Temp is 15°F Snowfall overnight around 5". Continuing to snow on and off today. Fluffy lake effect snow is slippery at this point.

Reports that Trail 8 is getting bumpy round these parts--it's see some more riders over the long weekend. Recording from the Munising area groomer is that trails are being groomed every day.
    1.18.09

Temp 5°F this morning. 3"-4" of new snow overnight. Forecasted for lake effect snow today thru early Monday.

We haven't heard anything new about the trails----still looking awesome although there are more sledders in the UP this weekend. Everyone riding reports the same thing: best trail conditions in years...fast, smooth and bump-free.

Munising to Marquette via trail 8 is about 55 miles one way. It is a great loop to do. Lynns Cafe in Gwinn has huge pancakes!! Dont forget to stop at Lakenenland east of Marquette and see the metal sculptures and warm up at the campfire. Also, there is a stretch just east of Marquette where you have to really watch your speed in the residential area (not only so we dont lose that trail stretch again but they also patrol it) Happy trails!!!!
