BENZIE COUNTY TRAIL REPORT - 12/01

Hi all! WOOHOOH! ARE YA READY? It's December 1 and you know what that means! AND what a better way to bring in December than with a load of snow! Last week we got a few inches but lost some of it and now last night and today we have been under a winter storm warning. We have gotten anywhere from 6-10+" already of the wet heavy stuff. Temps are holding right around freezing in the daytime and in the 20's at night. Snow is beautiful covering everything, but wet and heavy knocking some power out and trees and limbs down in some places. Hopefully it sounds as though this stuff is gonna stay too since its in the forecast for ervy day the rest of the week! Hopefully the groomers can get out soon too and start us a nice base! Trails do open today as you know but groomers won't be out quite yet so remember to expect that early season kinda riding if you're going out. Cross your fingers, say your prayers, do your snow dance! Whatever it takes, lets hope this is the beginning of the best non stop snow season ever! Email me and let me know you are there and ready for the riding! Talk to ya soon and I'll CYA on the trails! Carol B -- visitbenzie.com

BENZIE COUNTY TRAIL REPORT - 12/04

Trails are open and the Snowbirds tell me that all three groomers are out! We got at least 6-12" of snow so far and its the wet heavy stuff so when I talked to the Snowbirds, they said they are just working at trying to get it packed down to get a good solid base going. Yay! And the temps are dropping some and lots more good snowfall is forecast so we should be looking FINE! Woohooh! So, its looking like a pretty darn good first weekend of the season! If ya see the groomers, stay outta their way, and give them a thumbs up as they go by! Keep crossing your fingers, saying your prayers, doin your snow dance! Its working so far! Whatever it takes, lets hope this is the beginning of the best non stop snow season ever! Email me and let me know your out there and share your adventures and pictures if you get some! I LOVE IT! Talk to ya soon! Be safe, be smart out there and I'll CYA on the trails! Carol B - Benzie Bureau

Talked with Sonny today (December 22) at Sunny Woods Resort and she said the snow just keeps falling and falling and falling. The Benzie County trails are in great shape with all of the snow and light traffic. She said the conditions were so good that a group of snowmobilers who had reservations for two days just couldn't leave. They ended up staying four days.

More snow in the forecast going into the holidays. Sunny Woods Resort is right on the trails. Here are a couple of photos of the snow:

We were out last week on the trails, had lots of fun and was glad to see the groomers out. The only thing that was a little dissapointing, I guess you could say was running into a truck on the trail. I guess there doing logging out there. Little scary seeing a truck come at you.
