    Hey there Sledheads,
How's everybodys summer going? Just made a deal on a F8 so I'm ready for winter.

Came across this AP story.... Farmers Almanac is calling for a snowy Great Lakes Winter...

The almanac's 2009 edition, which goes on sale Tuesday, says at least two-thirds of the country can expect colder-than-average temperatures this winter, with only the Far West and Southeast in line for near-normal readings.

''This is going to be catastrophic for millions of people,'' said almanac editor Peter Geiger.

The almanac predicts above-normal snowfall for the Great Lakes and Midwest, especially during January and February, and above-normal precipitation for the Southwest in December and for the Southeast in January and February. The Northeast and Mid-Atlantic regions will likely have an unusually wet or snowy February, the almanac said.

    Hi Folks,
had a serious health issue this summer but beat it. Guys...know your PSA number from your next physical. I hope the Almanac is right! I see American Snowmobiler magazine failed to mention Cadillac in their Destinations pages. On second thought, do we need more people knowing? Not.

WD, I've been thinking about you and your family. Hope everything is ok, I'm thinking maybe we can get a small board ride in this year and meet @ Chase Smoke Haus, your family, Calvin, Barbs Family, Catman & few others. Everyone just ride in from their desitinations and have lunch together

Barb, there may be a good chance that hubby & I can make it this weekend for trail cleanup. We have the free weekend that we won @ snofest @ Pine Chata, if she's got room and things work out, we hope to see everyone Saturday

    Scooby,

I'm the secretary of the Gobles Driftbusters snowmobile club which has a clubhouse just off the Kal-Haven trail west of Kalamazoo. Check out our club website (www.goblesdriftbusters.org) for moreinformation about the club, activities and trails in your area. But one thing you'll learn very quickly as you snowmobile is that the Cadillac area just can't be beat for reliable snow cover, reasonable driving distance and folks skilled and dedicated to maintaining an awesome trail system.

    Hey Sooby,

You should join a club where you ride, especially where you ride the most. I must put my two cents in here. The Cadillac Winter Warriors is a great club and people, not just becasue I am a member. I believe the have the best trails in the lower part of Michigan. Come to a meeting and check it out. I have met some great people in the club and its totally worth it. Tell ya what, join the club, attend a few meetings and and couple of events. If you don't like it, I will buy your membership back. How can ya go wrong. Good luck and see ya on the trails. If ya need a guide when your up here just let me know.

Someone shortly should have the web address for ya and post it here for ya Scooby. I am gonna be hopping on a plane shortly and gonna have my toes in the sand and umbrella drinks in my hand for a couple of weeks. Be good everyone
  4.
Calvin, I don't think they have a web page anymore, if memory serves right, they didn't have someone to maintain it at the time. Scooby, you will find alot of info for the Caddy area right here. If you need any help on where to stay, I've stayed at most hotels. Calvin, myself & Barb can always help you with trail reports and places to go. See ya out on the trails!

Barb, will be able to give you more info on the CWW

Thanks for your thoughts PolarisGirl. I'm glad I had surgery in June instead of winter! All is good now. We are hoping for a winter like last year being able to ride to Cadillac and Baldwin from our door via the White Pine Trail. We love the Western UP, but you can't beat not having to trailer! Let's do a ride again this year. Anyone heard from Beth in Lake City? Fished there this summer and saw many businesses for sale there.

Hi guys, I'm back, didn't make the trail brushing but I heard someone came in and asked for me. I am sorry I missed you but will catch up with you the next time. The CWW don't have a web page at the moment because we couldn't get anyone to maintain it, but there is one on the horizon, so I have heard. Our next event is a kick off party to the snowmobile season, which we do every year. It is on Nov. 1st. and starts out with a hay ride through the forest, followed by a pot luck. We always have a great time. Calvin, have a great time, we are going to miss you. Polarisgal, did you make it up this past week end?

Hey WD.... Good to see you are back on the board... Now that you're back on the board, I think the Farmer's Almanac is going to be right and it's going to be a good winter.... I was out of town and missed the trail brushing was hoping to get out there to get some photos... If anyone has some digital photos of the trail brushing or any other Cadillac Snowmobile photos, please email them to me at info@northguide.com and I'll post them online.

Also, I've create a Cadillac Snowmobile Photos Group on Flickr. You can visit it at http://www.flickr.com/groups/cadillactrails. Not much there right now. You can sign up for a free Flickr account and add your photos to the group. Or email them to me at the above address and I can add them for you.

I've also created a new website to keep track of all resources for Cadillac Snowmobiling. It is at: www.cadillactrails.com

    Over and out for now.
  5.
Wow Patrick, you've been busy. Barb, I didn't get a chance to make it to the brushing but I see my bud Catman made it up. Too bad the CWW is having the hayride on the 1st, that's the Novi Snow Show. Catman, I'll be there Saturday

Calvin, watch out for those fruity drinks, don't need ya drunk dialing LOL

Patrick, thanks so much for the walk down memory lane. We sure have missed Carol Potter who use to head up that ride and is now doing her thing out in Colorado. We sure do miss her.

Catman 600 so sorry I missed you, but I know we will catch up some time this winter. Praying we get the same snow we got last year. Sure was a ball. Funny that we set the Hay ride on the same day as the Novi show, but that was probably because so many of our members worked the Hastings show and decided one was enough for the year. If you don't go to show, you sure are welcome to come out to Kick Off Party.
  6.
Scooby, do you ride the Caddy area? The Cadillac Winter Warriors are a great group of people, they help with the Cadillac Winter Promotions who maintain the trails. As I live 250 miles away, I rarely get a chance to meet with everyone in the club but have made friends with Barb and others from the group. Barb and Calvin are our trail reporters during the winter, they get a chance to ride during the week and report back. Anytime you are looking for someone to ride with, just post up when you're coming up, I'm sure someone else is looking to ride also

polarisgirl, no this is my first year. i have heard that there is a lot of good riding up there. my problem is i am very green (lol) i raced moto cross for a lot of years. i dont know where to go, how to get on to the trails, where to stay, you know every one has to start some where. i have had old sled in the past and did some ditch runing. that was ok. but my son and i have newer sleds and would love to be on endless trails. im realy looking forward to seeing some amazing thing that only can be seen from the sleds. thank you. (ps. i am about 3 to 4 hours from cadillac as well) SCOOBY

Well, the season is almost upon us. Time to get the ET250 in shape fo another fun and exciting season. I have attached a GE jet engine to the ET250 this year, can't wait to try it out......All I need now is snow and JET A fuel!

P.S. If you see a person on a naked snowmobile, ripping down the trail on an ET250.........That be me!!!!
Naked snowmobile meaning the ET250 hasn't been painted or has no decals!!!!!

    Mango.....Out!

Alright, Calvin is back. Got my full of grouper and crab bisque soup for awhile. Enough of the umbrella drinks. Gonna stick to my goose(grey goose) to those that don't know-LOL. Sled is ready, so are the trails. Getting time for it to snow. Gas is back down to levels lower than last season. Lets hope it last for years. My attitude is back into the proper mode and rested up. Gotta meet up with ya Scooby and show ya the trails. Not hard to put on a couple hundred miles a day with the Calvin. Polarisgirl, I did not do any drunk dialing while in florida--Pllleeaasseee. LOL. I hear the mayor of Detroit is going to the steel bar hotel for while. Can't believe it took this long. Besides skin color, what does obama and kwame have in common??? The people they hang around with are shady. Look out come election day, may be the last year for riding--jk. Everyone be good and see ya out on the trails. Stay on your side of the trail, the right side.

Hey- Use to snowmobile in Wellston area. Have 2 snowmobiles for sale now. 2002 Artic Cat 600 ZL EFI and a 2004 Artic Cat Sabre Cat. Also have a covered 2 place snowmobile trailer. Telephone number is 260-562-3472.
  11.
Artic Kitty, are you guys getting out of sledding? I saw Jackie this weekend at the Snow Show in Novi. Sign of the times, the show was empty, there were some people walking around, but not alot of people had bags in there hands
  12.
Polaris Girl- we are thinking about it. Snogirl and husband decided to sell their cabin and they have already sold their sleds. I guess it is the end of a great thing. The sleds are in great condition.

    Artic Kitty & SnoGirl,
I will never forget when you two pulled up at the Board Ride at Twin Oaks. You said "where do we go?" "Our husbands did not want to come, it sounded like fun, so here we are!" We met your husbands later at the bonfire. That's what snowmobiling is all about. Even if you sell the toys, you are still a Snowmobiler.
  13.
WD- we both enjoyed meeting everyone and it was alot of fun. Catman 600- the asking price is $3,400.00. Is Jackie back at Twin Oaks???? I enjoyed emailing Her!! Take Care All!!!!!!!!!!
  14.
WD, our ride was alot of fun and those two ladies were a hoot! There hubbies sure did miss a good ride. Artic Kitty, Jackie is at Twin Oaks, give her a call

Catman, I know the young lady that owns these sleds, they have been taken care of and have had alot of TLC
